He was working on the brow of the quarry taking off baring. For some time he had worked broken time and had occasionally complained of feeling ill and giddy. It is supposed that he had suddenly been seized with giddiness, which caused him to lose his balance and fall from where he was working some ten or eleven feet down the face of the quarry. He died a week later from softening of the brain, accelerated by the fall.
