- A crane on top floor of the quarry was shifted 27ft. to the south and as the cranes in quarry hole are held in position by guy ropes from fixed to the sides of the quarry it was necessary to shorten the ropes on one side and lengthen them on the other. Deceased was engaged in this work the time of the accident and was on the ledge close to a rope ladder 160ft up making an eye to attach a piece of rope to lengthen guy rope the guy rope being meantime held in its place by a pin in the rock face and link; this link broke and as he was about to fall he caught hold of the falling rope and was carried with it and thrown with terrific force against the seat of the crane in the bottom.
