Deceased was engaged at the face in a long-wall drift in the Four Feet seam, when a piece of coal 9ft, long and 1ft thick, with 2ft. of dirt attached fell from two slips converging at an obtuse angle. He was carried down by it and crushed against a tub standing about 6ft. from the face, receiving internal injuries from which he died in the evening of the same day.
