- Deceased was a haulage ropeman, and when returning up the downbrow in the Main Coal seam, where the gradient was about 1 in 3, appeared to have stumbled, and in trying to save himself from falling, he tried to catch hold of the haulage rope. The rope was running on pulleys on one side of the roadway, and he got his fingers crushed between the haulage rope and pulley. He died from the effects of blood poisoning at Ruabon Hospital on 22nd December, 1913.
