Melling was assisting fireman in blasting operations for a new motor-house underground. They had fired two shots, and on returning to prepare for a third, a piece of coal about 30lbs. in weight, fell upon him from a height of fourteen feet. The shot had displaced supports and deceased bad followed the fireman who was inspecting the place.
