A loaded tub was being run on a 'gurdy’ braes dipping 1 in 3 and when a short distance down the tubs stopped owing to the chain on the wheel becoming locked. To get the tubs to move the chain was ‘pumped’ which caused extra strain, and a "false" link gave out and tubs ran away; deceased was caught at the bottom of the brae and fatally crushed.
