5 July 1919: Fatal Mining accident at Sanquhar - By the full of a stone from the roof in the Tower Mine of Sanquhar and Kirkconnel Collieries, John M'Quot lost his life on Saturday, and J. Elliot and G. Robertson were injured. M'Quot was 21 years of age, and was married only a week ago. He served in the Army for four years. [Scotsman 8 July 1919]
