23 June 1931: Miner Killed On The Railway - A Cowie miner, James M'Quirter (66), 16 Polmaise Place, was found dead on a railway siding at Bannockburn Colliery yesterday. Shortly before the body was discovered a number of empty waggons on the line had been shunted. M'Quirter, who leaves a widow and family, was terribly injured. [Scotsman 24 June 1931]
