19 April 1916: Fatal Colliery Accident in Lanarkshire - While Robert M'Mahon (30), a married miner, residing at Fenel Rows, Tillietudlem, near Crossford, was at work in Bellfield colliery, Coalburn, on Wednesday, a fall of stone came away from the roof, killing him instantaneously. It appears that he had fired a shot and had gone in to see its effects when the fall took place. [Scotsman 21 April 1916]
