He was coming up the motion brow, 1,100 yards in length, after finishing his work, when the motion, which was in work, reversed through the band rope falling off pulley, and owing to getting jammed by a full tub, McLoughlin got fatally injured. The haulage was alone by endless rope and notices were posted up in the brow prohibiting workers from travelling when the rope was in motion.
