- 28 September 1917: Fatal Mining Accident at Broxburn - An elderly man, named Archibald M'Liver who resided at Coronation Buildings Broxburn, was yesterday killed in Tanspark [Fawnspark] Mine, belonging to Young's Oil Company. M'Liver was engaged working at the face, when a large quantity of shale came away upon him and when he was extricated life was found to be extinct. [Scotsman 29 September 1917]
