Details of Event
He was in a steamer from which coal was being unloaded at a wharf close to the quarry. It was raised out of the hole in buckets by a jib crane placed on the wharf. A bucket in being raised caught on the hatch and the strain broke the crane jib which fell on him as he was guiding the bucket through the hatch.
