- Details of Event
- These men, along with others, were engaged enlarging a roadway to form an underground fan-engine room. A large area of roof had been exposed, and while levelling out the dirt preparatory to setting timber to this roof, a fall of stone about 12 feet by 10 feet by 6 to 10 inches thick occurred, and buried all three men and injured a fourth man. In exposing such a large area of roof the fireman in charge (who was killed) is said to have acted contrary to instructions received from the management. 3 killed.
