- Struck by an iron crow-bar, 6 feet long and fell back on his head, fracturing his skull. A stone from two to three tons weight was being raised from its bed by a dog attached to steam crane; a piece of the stone broke off liberating the dog the stone dropped a foot, falling on the toe of the crow-bar being used to ease the stone.
