18 June 1935: Kirkconnel Miner Killed - While engaged on repair work in No.1 Fauldhead Colliery, Kirkconnel, yesterday, Henry M'Ghee, aged 33, who resided at New Street was fatally injured by a fall of stone. His neck was broken, and he sustained other body injuries. This is the second fatal accident in Fauldhead Colliery within a week, and the employees followed their usual custom of returning home as a token of respect for their unfortunate comrade.
