He, with other two men, was back brushing a level road. When the fireman was making his inspection he noticed that a bar across the entrance to a heading off this level was cracked, and one of the supporting props not vertical; he told McGeehan to place another prop under the bar. Deceased did this, and was in the act of removing the other prop to reset it when the bar swung out of position, and he was buried beneath a fall and instantly killed.
