Roof fall. William McGarvie (41), coal stripper, 12D Glendevon Drive, Stirling, was killed while at work on Monday in No 2 pit, Polmaise Colliery, Millhall. MeGarvie was pinned to the ground by a part of the roof falling on him in the underground working. When extricated, he was found to be dead. (Stirling Observer).
