- Details of Event
- Deceased and three other men were engaged in removing a large piece of rock which had lain at the side of a main endless rope downbrow for 10 years, but which the pack had gradually pushed out so that it was in the way. These men had got the stone on to the rails on the empty road. Suddenly it began to slide as the rails in this part dipped 1 in 4.5. Deceased was below the stone removing an empty tub. Unfortunately he had not time to get out of the way before the stone, sliding on the rails, caught him and caused a compound fracture of his leg. He died two days later from the injuries received. Died 29th.
