- Early on Monday morning John W M'Dade (30), miner, residing at Drygate Street, Larkhall, lost his life in Swinhill Colliery, belonging to the Darngavil Coal Company, Ltd. He was working in the Kiltongue seam, No 2 Pit, at the machine walls, when a large stone fell from the roof, completely enveloping the unfortunate workman and causing instantaneous death. The body was examined by Dr Morrison. Deceased leaves a widow. [Hamilton Advertiser 20 May 1916]
