- Rock fall. On Monday morning (20 October 1919) as John McConnell, 21 years of age, a Pit Brusher, residing at 75 Fallin Rows was clearing up after a shot had been fired in Brown's Mine in the Knott Coal Section of No 3 Pit, Fallin, a stone weighing about 1½ cwts burst from the left side of the road, striking him on the back and knocking him down. He was conveyed to Stirling Royal Infirmary when he was found to be suffering from severe bruising of the spine. (Stirling Observer).
