25 September 1917: Colliery Fatalities – David McBeth, 49, who was accidentally killed while at work as a miner in Greenfield Colliery on Tuesday afternoon, was well known in quoiting circles and was a member of Burnbank Quoiting Club. Along with his son he had been employed at the coal face, when a large stone fell upon him, fracturing his skull. He leaves a wife and a family of 5 who reside at 309 Glasgow Road, Hamilton.
