- On Sunday afternoon, a fatal accident took place in No 2 pit, Polmaise Colliery MilIhall, resulting in the death of Peter McAulay, brushing contractor, who resided at 14 Lower Castlehill, Stirling. McAulay was engaged along with a number of others in brushing operations when a heavy fall took place, a couple of tons of stone coming away from the roof. A part of the material fell on McAulay and on being extricated he was found to be dead, his neck having been broken. Deceased, who was 40 years of age, leaves a widow and three of a family. He was well known in the upper part of the town and was a keen supporter of the Emmet Football Club, taking an active interest in its affairs. (Stirling Observer). Roof fall.
