The shaft is 61 fathoms deep Colinhurn Coal seam and 12 fathoms above is the Main coal seam. Deceased came from the adjoining shaft and at the midworking he stepped on top deck of the rise cage to be raised to the surface and when the cage was within 10ft. of the top it fell away and he with it was precipitated to the bottom. The hose pin had by some means worked itself loose from the muzzle and the cage was thus released from the winding rope.
