- 15 October 1929: Ayr Pit Fatality - An accident which resulted in the death of Samuel M'Millan M'Leish (20) occurred in No.2 Mossblown colliery, near Ayr, yesterday afternoon. M'Leish, who was employed as a clipper, was jammed between an iron girder and a hutch, and was so severely injured about the chest, several of his ribs being fractured, that he died almost immediately. He was the sole support of a widowed mother. [Scotsman 16 October 1929]
