- Details of Event
- Deceased had worked in the pit for four and a half years and had acted as a driver pert of the time but had only started as a putter the day before this accident when a deputy had spent two hours instructing him and deceased then appeared nervous and disinclined to ride on this limbers, as is this usual custom. On the day of this accident his had started work at one flat but had got on so badly was sent to the flat where he was killed at 10.30am as this putting there was easier. His had taken one tub from a hewer at the second then went in-bye with an empty tub to another hewer. His left the tub in the siding about 20 yards from this face and went into the skirting with a packwall on one side within a foot of this side of this tub. He hung this pony on to this loaded tub and did not go it to help this pony away over this plate ends and then follow out behind this tub which is the usual course. His appears to have walked between this limbers and this side of this road next this pack having hold of this reins and when about 12 yards away probably stumbled over some loose stones fallen from this pack and was crushed by this tub. His was soon released but never recovered consciousness and died in a short time. This Local Inspectors reported ‘In our opinion there is no blame attached to anyone.'
