- Three trams of an empty journey running down John Williams’ Deep, on the west side of the shaft, became unhitched through the shackle pin rising from some unexplained cause running wild, the trams lashed into the full journey at the bottom of the double parting Matthews, hearing them coming instead of going into a manhole, ran to the double parting and was crushed between the trams. The road and manholes were in good order.
