Struck by handle of crane. When lowering a waggon of dirt in brow the handle probably slipped from his hands and struck him the chin causing comminuted fracture of the jaw. On the 22nd of Oct. he was discharged from Salford Hospital the wound not quite healed. At 4pm on the 23rd, he complained of pain in his head, at 5pm. became unconscious and died at 4pm. the following day.
