Deceased was sitting down at the meeting station prior to proceeding to his working place, when a piece of ironstone 3 feet 6 inches by 4 feet 6 inches by 6 inches burst off the side of a pillar near to the corner of which he was sitting. He jumped up but not quickly enough to escape the stone, which struck him on the back and knocked him against a prop. His spine was fractured and he died on 18th December, 1914, from blood poisoning set up by the injury.
