- Details of Event
- Deceased was engaged at the shaft sidings his work being to receive full tubs as they left the endless haulage rope and scotch them down to the shaft for cager. For this purpose he usually used a single hand scotch at the last tub in each set hut occasionally he used a double scotch When the accident occurred he was seen sitting in front of a set of six full tubs with his legs underneath and his hands on the top of the first tub, and he was pushed forward in this position until he was severely crushed against other full tubs which he had previously lowered down. Apparently he had been in the act of pushing in double scotch in front of the first tub with his feet, when the scotch was knocked out his legs went under the tub, and he was unable to extricate himself.
