Whilst the deceased was engaged in getting up some bottom coal in the Longwall face of the Potato Delph seam, he appears to have loosened a sprag set on the bottom coal to support the top coal, thus causing a fall of top coal 4 feet long and 2 feet 6 inches high and 14 inches thick. The sprag was displaced and the deceased was fatally injured by the falling coal.
