The deceased was passing along the coal face and at a place where a fall of roof had occurred some days previously and the passage was of small area. A further fall of friable shale occurred, which covered him up to his neck. Every effort was made to release him. Twice he was nearly released but each time more shale slid from between the timbers and again covered him. He died from suffocation before he could be extricated.
