Deceased had brought a journey to the shaft bottom, and sat down to rest a short time. The hitchers went some six or seven yards away to take down some full trams, and when they returned deceased was not to be seen. The cage which had just descended was raised, and his body was found under it. A notice forbidding anyone crossing the shaft except through the cage was posted at or near the shaft bottom.
