15 February 1938: Stanley Markavitch, 44, of 388 Main St Bellshill, died in Glasgow Royal Infirmary yesterday from injuries received in accident at Viewpark Colliery, Uddingston, on Tuesday. Markavitch was engaged repairing a mine in the Upper Ell seam when a rake of hutches broke away and crushed and against the building. He was removed to the Infirmary in a critical condition and died there yesterday. Markavitch was married.[Scotsman 17 February 1938]
