- He was taking up a bottom canch a few yards back from the face of a broken working in order to make tub height. The place was well timbered and had been examined and pronounced quite safe twice during his shift. He was afterwards found by the shot firer in a sitting position with a stone on his leg. The stone had fallen from a slip & Come over the timber without canting it out. He was a weakly man and suffered from bronchitis and asthma. The shock was too much for him and he died the next day.
