Deceased was riding on a load in a journey, travelling on a surface tramway actuated by main and tail rope haulage. When passing through a tunnel the load upon which he was riding jumped off the rails. He was jerked from his position and fell in front of the next load, which ran over him and caused injuries from which he died in a few hours.
