- 25 April 1924 Fatal Colliery Explosion - Andrew Malcolm, Ness View, Newmills, died in the Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital yesterday from the effects of an explosion of dust at the Coltness Iron Company's Blairhall colliery on Wednesday. He was employed as a fireman and shot-firer, Malcolm was 35 years of age, and married. [Scotsman 26 April 1924]
Sequel to Mining Accident - Low Valleyfield Miner Dies in Hospital - Andrew Malcolm, who resided at Forth View Cottages, Low Valleyfield died yesterday in Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in a mining accident in the Lord Bruce Pit. On Wednesday, Malcolm, who was a shot firer, was at work when a gas explosion took place. It was at first though that he would recover, but his condition grew worse and at midday he died.
