- Details of Event
- Inspection made and inquest attended Deceased with three other men were taking down a wire rope to the pumps, in a sinking tub one end was attached to a stretching screw fixed in a steel girder 96 yards from the surface. After they had reached about 200 yards from the surface and uncoiling the rope, they appeared to have unscrewed the stretching screw, and the rope fell, fatally injuring deceased. The safer method (and usual way) is to take the rope down in the tub, and then haul it up.
