- Details of Event
- Deceased had bored a shot-hole in the face of a drift in the Eight Feet Banbury Seam, where the coal is 8ft. thick and inclined at 33 degrees. He left the place for a few moments to get stemming ready for the fireman. On his return a large piece of coal fell from the face a few feet above the shot-hole, being liberated by two slips crossing each other at right angles. Previous to boring the hole the deceased had pulled all loose coal off the face and considered it in safe condition.
