- Crushed by hutches. Knocked down by a rake of hutches on the main haulage road in the underground workings of Fallin Colliery yesterday afternoon (3 November 1948), Henry James Lynch (70), Gearhead Attendant, 58 D Block, Fallin was taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary in a critical condition. As a result of the accident in the underground workings of Fallin Colliery two days previously, Henry James Lynch (70), Gearhead Attendant, died in Stirling Royal Infirmary on Friday 5 November. He was struck by a rake of hutches as he was walking along the main haulage road. (Stirling Observer).
