- Details of Event
- He was building a pack 7 feet 4 inches from the coal face. One half of the pack was built to the roof and whilst Lowde was shovelling slack into the pack a piece of rock, 5 feet 6 inches by 4 feet 2 inches by 1 foot 6 inches to 3 inches thick, fell from the roof and killed him. The deputy had inspected the place an hour before the accident happened, and did not suggest that supports, other than the pack itself, should be set.
