20 May 1940: Pit Fatality - Gavin Love (32), 13 First Avenue, Auchinloch, Lenzie, was the victim of a fatal accident yesterday at Wester Auchengeich Colliery, Bishopbriggs. Love, who was employed as a brusher, was caught by a fall of stone. He was conveyed to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow in an ambulance waggon, but died just as he reached the Infirmary.
