- Details of Event
- Deceased, along with others, was employed in filling skips with stones, which were being raised by a crane, and emptied into wagons. Apparently the brake slipped and caused a skip to be suddenly lowered upon him. The brake was lined with leather. Such brakes are reliable when dry, but when wet their gripping power is materially reduced. Wood lined brakes are much better for outside work, and should be used.
