19 January 1932: While examining a new section in No.1 Pit, Cadzow Colliery, Hamilton, yesterday afternoon Mr Hugh Logan, manager of the colliery was struck by a runaway hutch and received injuries to his legs. Mr Logan had a narrow escape from death, managing to jump to the side of the roadway as the hutch bore down on him. He escaped the full force of the hutch, but was struck on the legs and hurled aside. [Scotsman 20 January 1932]
