A shothole, drilled and charged by two others, with which he had nothing whatever to do, missed fire. After waiting some time, he took upon himself to go to the hole and began to drill out the stemming, notwithstanding the heated remonstrances of the other men. He would not desist even after he had picked out the wad of paper, although again urged to do so. He "jumped" the drill once or twice more and then the charge exploded. The Rules were posted in the Quarry and the other quarrymen drew his attention to them his reply was that he had drilled out many a hole and guessed he could manage this one.
