Details of Event
This accident was caused by carelessness in handling gunpowder near a naked light. Deceased was in a stooping position threading a bobbin of compressed gunpowder on to a length of fuse. His candle, which had been stuck in clay on to the pack at a height of about 2ft., fell into his lap and ignited the gunpowder. He was badly burned about the face and arms and received injuries from which he died three days later.
