Deceased had drilled a deep vertical hole and was engaged in firing a series of cracking shots. He fired three successfully but the fourth miss-fired. After the fifth, of which he had given due warning, he was found lying near the bole with his bead badly injured. He had used blasting powder, and presumably, in lighting up, a spark had ignited powder lying outside the hole, or in fissures radiating from the hole.
