- Details of Event
- He with two men and four boys, was walking in to his work along the main and tail rope haulage plane, and met the full journey on its way out to the pit. One of the men behind him shouted that they had better get into a manhole, but deceased and his two boys, one in front and the other following, took no notice of the warning until the journey came suddenly upon them, when they attempted to do so. The boys got in allright, but deceased was caught by the journey and dragged about 20 yards, to where he was found under the ninth tram. He died on reaching the surface.
