Details of Event
Sandstone about 16 ft by 13 ft by 6 ft thick fell on them. They had fired a shot in the face of the quarry to dislodge the stone which overhung considerably but with no result. Instead of boring another hole they worked at the lower bed and while so doing the whole mas sfell. Thery were inexperienced and the owner knew nothing of quarry work. He has not worked the quarry since. 2 killed.
