- His coat got twisted round the haulage rope as he was making his way cut to the shaft and he was drawn about 200 yards. A lad who was with him said that the rope knocked them down and that deceased became fast to it. The rope rose about 3 feet and it was thought that the two boys had been sitting on it riding out but how the clothes became twisted round the rope I cannot imagine. There were no broken wires it was practically a new rope.
