Deceased was leading a horse, yoked to an empty cart, along the public road near the quarry. When passing a motor waggon, which stood at a shop door, the horse shied and bolted. Deceased clung to its head but was thrown down, and a wheel apparently passed over him, fracturing his skull. He died on the way to the hospital.
